Platform Issues

Organizational Development

“We must run our business – the business of Alpha – the business of brotherhood, with principles of good management, fiscal responsibility, shareholder respect, brotherly service, and vision”

  • Corporate Governance – We must implement proven best practices in the day-to- day operations to ensure our members receive both the desired and required services.

  • Board Development – All members of all fraternity Boards must receive the most up-to-date nonprofit organization industry standard training to enable them to fulfill our mission requirements.

  • Strategic Planning – In phases, 1, 3, 5-year plans must be developed and implemented to chart our future development and progression.

Economic Self-Sufficiency

“We can not expect others to fund our existence. We must be economically self-sufficient. We must be proactive in finding future revenue sources and growing our endowments to fund our initiatives.”

  • Fiscal Management – 100% transparency and professionalism, in the planning and execution of all fraternal matters.

  • Revenue Diversification – Membership dues and low level projects will not sustain and grow the organization. We must develop new revenue streams.

  • Endowment Building – We must encourage life long giving to the organization, and planned estate giving to increase our endowment base.

  • Entrepreneurship – Increased opportunities and partnerships to develop individual and collective business ventures to ensure wealth creation capability.

College Brother Development

“The future is now. The future of this organization, the future of our people walks among us and across most college campuses. We must invest in the development of our college brothers, to prepare them for the challenge they will face in this world.”

  • Leadership Training – We must develop and provide yearly regional college Brother Retreats, to provide specific training opportunities, specifically structured for college brothers.

  • Professional/Personal Development – After preparing our brothers, we must then provide and assist them with obtaining corporate, public and private sector internships, then permanent jobs.

  • Mentoring – Brother-to-Brother, this is our first and primary mentoring project, pairing successful alumni brothers with college brothers, primarily based on career aspirations.

Social Activism

“As the world becomes less kind, we must continue to be that beacon for those in the storm of life. We must continue to enhance our service agenda and promote love for all mankind.”

  • Community Service – Possibly our greatest strength lies in the work our chapters do in their respective communities. We must provide increased resources to help our chapters in this great work.

  • Social and Legal Justice – Some of the greatest minds in these fields are our Brothers. We must develop and provide the vehicle where we vigilantly demonstrate our leadership.

  • Public Policy/Advocacy – In this arena, second to none, the nation must hear the voice, the opinion of Alpha Phi Alpha, Fraternity, Inc. We will not be silent on the issues that affect this nation or the world.

Martin Luther King Memorial Project

A project of this magnitude requires the ingenuity to create the influence to inspire partnerships, the temerity to demand action, and the passion of faith and belief.”

  • Corporate fundraising – Develop and implement the strategy that brings all of corporate America and the major philanthropic community to the table, fully invested in completing this project.

  • Partnership and Coalition Formation – Dr. King, was our Brother, yet he belongs to the world, we must, we will, create partnerships with the world community to complete this task.

  • Operations and Project Management – Ensure that the best and the brightest are selected and working on the project.

Health/Healthcare Awareness
“The ravages of disease have taken a heavy toll on our people. Various epidemics and different forms of cancer, heart disease, diabetes and HIV plague our people here and throughout the world. It is only through creating access to quality care and fostering awareness that we can combat these problems.”

  • Health Maintenance and Awareness – We must assist in the task to provide information within our communities, then, help to provide the needed resources.

  • Health Care Access – Helping to develop and provide systemic assistance to those in need.
